Paid vacations

The qualifying period is the 12-month period beginning May 1 of the previous year and ending April 30 of the current year or the calendar year preceding the year during which the employee takes his vacation if this is the current practice of his employer or that mentioned in the collective agreement.
The employee who, at the end of a qualifying period, has 1 year of uninterrupted service shall be entitled to a vacation leave of 3 weeks. The vacation pay shall be equal to 6% of the employee’s total wages earned during the qualifying period.
The employee who has 10 years of uninterrupted service shall be entitled to a vacation leave of 4 weeks. The vacation pay shall be equal to 8% of the employee’s total wages earned during the qualifying period.
The employee who has 23 years of uninterrupted service shall be entitled to a vacation leave of 5 weeks. The vacation pay shall be equal to 10% of the employee’s total wages earned during the qualifying period.
The employee who has 33 years of uninterrupted service shall be entitled to a vacation leave of 6 weeks. The vacation pay shall be equal to 12% of the employee’s total wages earned during the qualifying period.
Any employee may require that his annual vacation be granted to him between April 30th and September 1st.
