Withholding of pay following an equipment damage

Does the employer have the right to withhold an amount on the pay of the employee for damage of equipment or other similar events?

The answer is no. Article 49 of An Act respecting labour standards forbids such withholdings without the written authorisation of the employee. The Parity Committee can claim such an amount, when illegally deducted.
